Wes Doss was an internationally recognized firearm, tactics, and use of force instructor with over 20 years of military & civilian criminal justice experience, as well as significant operational time with both military & law enforcement tactical operations & protective service organizations. Doss put great emphasis on enactive mastery experiences in order to build self-efficacy.

Enactive mastery and vicarious experiences help participants gain awareness of the need to develop learning and performance expectations that allow them to succeed in a variety of situations through their own first-hand experience and also by viewing others. Repeated success in your training utilising your skills and abilities to solve problems, lead to stronger faith and confidence. Your regular physical practice, such as self-defence, fighting, and protection of others, contributes to your ability to mentally handle a confrontation. Additional focused mental training can reduce stress, improve concentration, sharpen focus, and accelerates information processing. This can be crucial to both nonviolent conflicts as well as in self-defence or fighting scenarios. If required, elevated mental training can make you more decisive, aggressive, and determined when certain circumstances arrive.
